• 3 cups (710 ml) beef broth
• 1 tbsp (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp (5 ml) dried thyme
• 1 bay leaf
• 2 tbsp (30 ml) cornstarch (or tapioca starch), for thickening (optional)
