Southern-Style Baked Beans with Bacon
When I think of Southern-style cooking, baked beans always come to mind. It's a dish I grew up with, and one that my family has come to love over the years.
Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon (cut in half)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 medium green bell pepper (diced)
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard (or 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard)
- 3 (28 oz) cans beans
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 1/4 cup cider or distilled vinegar
