More of a cake than a pudding, this classic English treat is a great holiday dessert. With flavors of toffee and date, it's simply delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for baking pan
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 2 cups chopped pitted dates
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Sauce for Toffee-Date Pudding
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
