Ingredients

• 1 stick margarine
• 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
• 2 cups sugar
• 5 egg yolks
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup coconut
• 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, tossed lightly with small amount of flour
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
