Ingredients

• 1/2 stick unsalted butter softened
• 1 cup light brown sugar
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
• a pinch of cloves
• a pinch of salt
• a bottle of dark rum
• 5 cups boiling water
