Death by Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

• 3 ounces semisweet chocolate (El Rey or Callebaut work beautifully)
• 1 1/2 cups freshly brewed hot coffee
• 3 cups sugar (yes, it’s a lot, but we’re making cake, not salad)
• 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder (Ghirardelli is my go-to)
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
• 3 large eggs
• 3/4 cup canola oil
• 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (make sure to shake it well)
• 3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
