Ingredients

• 2 pounds Ribeye steak, trimmed and sliced very thin*
• 2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
• 1 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
• 2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil, divided
• 1 large onion, sweet or yellow
• 8 slices Cache Valley Creamery provolone cheese
• 4 hoagie rolls, sliced ¾ way through
• 4 tablespoons salted butter, softened
• ¼ cup mayonnaise
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
