  • 1 cup of cracked wheat (daliya)
  • 1/2 cup of split yellow lentils (moong dal)
  • 1/2 cup of split red lentils (masoor dal)
  • 1/2 cup of chana dal (split chickpeas)
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 4 cups of water (or as needed)
  • 1/4 cup of cooking oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
