Ingredients

• 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
• 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
• 1 cup 2 sticks, unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
• ½ cup granulated sugar
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 large eggs, room temperature
• 3 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
• 1 ½ cups light or dark brown sugar
• 2 cups M&M’s, plus more for tops, if desired
