  • 1½ pounds mild, firm-fleshed fish (such as red snapper, grouper, striped bass, or halibut)
  • Salt
  • ½ pound sea scallops
  • ⅓ cup dry white wine
  • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½ pound extra-large shrimp, rock shrimp, or lobster tail
  • 5 to 6 sprigs flat-leaf (Italian) parsley
  • ¾ pound mussels
  • 1 medium clove garlic
  • ½ small yellow onion
  • 1 cup canned whole peeled tomatoes with their juice
  • 4 thick slices good crusty bread
