Ingredients

• 5 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 cup shortening (non-hydrogenated)
• 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
• 1 12-oz can evaporated milk
• 3 egg yolks
• 1 teaspoon sea salt
• 3 tablespoons cane sugar
• 1 packet yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons warm water
• 1 lb walnuts
• 4 eggs
• 2 tablespoons almond extract
• 1 1/2 cups cane sugar
