• 500 g diced mushrooms
• 300 g beef mince
• 300 g pork mince
• 1/2 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• salt
• black pepper
• 1 onion, finely diced
• 4 garlic cloves, crushed
• 2 x 400g can whole peeled tomatoes
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 cup basil leaves, torn plus extra to garnish
• 1/2 tablespoon chili flakes
• 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
• finely grated parmesan to serve
