- 1 pound stewing beef (stewing beef, cut into 3/4-1 cubes or boneless beef of choice)
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika (hot paprika)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- 2 medium yellow onions (finely sliced)
- 1 tablespoon paprika ( sweet paprika)
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 to 3 bay leaves
- 1 can (28 ounce) tomatoes (roughly chopped or crushed by hand)
- 2 cups beef stock
- pinch caraway seeds
- 2 medium potatoes (peeled and quartered)
- olive oil (for browning the beef)
