Connect RecipeSaint to Claude
This guide walks you through connecting RecipeSaint to Claude, step by step. No technical knowledge needed - the whole thing takes about two minutes.
When you're done, you can talk to Claude like this:
"Find me a cozy Sunday braise, save the best one, and put the ingredients on my shopping list."
...and Claude will actually do it, in your RecipeSaint account.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A Claude account - free or paid, at claude.ai or the Claude desktop app. Custom connectors work on every plan.
- A RecipeSaint account - if you don't have one yet, register here first (it's free).
Step 1: Open Claude's connector settings
- Open Claude - either claude.ai in your browser or the desktop app.
- Click your initials or profile picture in the bottom-left corner, then choose Settings.
- In the settings menu, click Connectors. You'll see a list of apps Claude can connect to (Google Drive, Gmail, and others may already be listed).
Step 2: Add RecipeSaint
- Click the Add custom connector button (on some versions it's a Browse connectors page with an "Add custom connector" link near the bottom).
- A small form appears asking for a name and a URL. Enter:
- Name:
Recipe Saint - URL:
- Name:
https://www.recipesaint.com/api/mcp
- Click Add. You don't need anything under "Advanced settings" - leave it alone.
RecipeSaint now appears in your connector list with a Connect button.
Step 3: Connect and approve
- Click Connect on the Recipe Saint connector.
- Your browser opens a RecipeSaint page. If you're not signed in, sign in with your normal RecipeSaint account.
- You'll see a consent screen titled "Connect Claude" listing exactly what Claude will be allowed to do - things like "Search the RecipeSaint recipe index" and "Create and edit your shopping lists".
- Read the list, then click Connect.
You're sent back to Claude, and the connector shows as connected. That's it.
Step 4: Try it
Start a new conversation in Claude and ask something like:
- "Search RecipeSaint for one-pot chicken dinners and describe the top 3."
- "Save the second one to my recipes."
- "Make a shopping list called Weeknight with those ingredients."
- "Draft a recipe from what we discussed and add it to my account."
Recipes Claude writes for you show up under Recipe Management with a small Claude badge, so you always know which recipes your assistant created.
Troubleshooting
"Couldn't register with Recipe Saint's sign-in service." Try again - if it persists, contact us with the reference code shown.
The connector is connected but Claude says it has no recipe tools. Start a brand-new conversation. If that doesn't help, disconnect and reconnect the connector in Settings → Connectors - Claude occasionally holds on to an old tool list.
Claude asks for approval before using a tool. That's a Claude safety prompt, not an error. Approve it, or set the connector's tools to "always allow" in the connector's settings.
I want to take permissions away. Disconnect the connector in Claude's settings. Claude's access stops immediately; your RecipeSaint account and everything in it stay untouched.
