African Chicken Pie Recipe - A Delicious South African Dish

Ingredients

• 5 lb (2.27 kg) stewing or roasting hen
• 1 large onion , peeled and quartered
• 6 whole allspice
• 4 whole cloves
• 0.25 tsp mace
• 1 tsp salt
• 6 peppercorns
• 0.5 lb (227 g) ham , cubed
• 3 cup water
• 0.5 cup white wine
• 0.25 cup cream of wheat
• 2 egg yolks
• 2 tbsp lemon juice
• 2 hard-boiled eggs , sliced
• 1 recipe puff pastry (see below)
• 1 egg , beaten with 1 tbsp water for pastry coating
