Ingredients

  • ½ cup chopped almonds
  • 3 apples, cored peeled and halved
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter cut in pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Roll puff pastry, defrosted
  • 1. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees
  • 2. Chop up the sides and edges of the apples. Slice the larger insides.
  • 3. Toss the almonds, apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg together in a bowl and leave for about 20 minutes.
  • 4. Roll the pastry out a little thinner and place on a baking paper-lined baking sheet. Score around the edges to make a border, ensuring you don't cut through the pastry.
  • 5. Spread the chopped apples over the pastry. Drizzle the honey over the chopped apples.
  • 6. Decoratively arrange the apple slices on top.
  • 7. Mix the remainder cinnamon and sugar. Drizzle over the apples. Dot with butter and bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastry is crisp and golden and apples are soft.
  • 8. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
