Ingredients

• 3/4 lb unsalted butter (at room temperature, plus more for greasing the pans, 3 sticks)
• 2 C sugar
• 5 extra-large eggs (at room temperature)
• 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 tsp pure almond extract
• 3 C all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting the pans)
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp kosher salt
• 1 C milk
• 4 oz sweetened shredded coconut
• For the frosting:
• 1 lb cream cheese (at room temperature)
• 1/2 lb unsalted butter (at room temperature, 2 sticks)
• 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp pure almond extract
• 1 lb confectioners’ sugar (sifted)
• 6 oz sweetened shredded coconut
