• ½ cup vegetable shortening
• 3 cups sugar

• 2 teaspoons almond extract
• 1 10-ounce jar maraschino cherries, crushed and divided (½ jar for cake and ½ jar for frosting)
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• ½ cup white chocolate, melted
• ½ stick butter
• 4 ounces cream cheese
• 1 teaspoon almond extract
