• 4 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature, divided
• 1 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1 cup sugar
• 8 large eggs
• 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 4 large gala apples , peel, core and chop into bite size pieces
• 1 cup sliced almonds
