- 1 cup good quality unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. coarse salt
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 lb. unsalted butter, softened
- 2½ cups sugar
- 6 eggs, room temperature & lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cup sour cream, at room temperature
- ~3 cups Black Cherry Jam (like Polaner All Fruit)
- Buttercream (recipe follows)
- Ganache (recipe follows)
- Fresh (or maraschino) cherries, with stems
