Pizzelles – McDermott Cookbook
Light, anise-flavored treats made from simple ingredients—butter, eggs, sugar, and flour—for a delicious family recipe tradition.
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter (I prefer unsalted, but either works. Melt this before you begin.)
- 4 ea Eggs
- 0.5 Cup Sugar (I used Pure Cane Sugar, but Tita Cirila's regular sugar worked great also.)
- 1 Cup Flour (Minimum. Most recipes will use 1.75 cups for this batch. (For harder cookies use more flour). I made a batch with both gluten free and regular flour. Both turned out great.)
- 3 tsp Anise Extract (This is the secret ingredient! Tita Mary says put some in your coffee while you're baking. Yum!)
- 3 tsp Vanilla Extract (Optional, but it worked great in our recipe.)
