Ingredients

• 6 to 8 medium tomatoes
• kosher salt
• freshly ground black pepper
• 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided use
• 3 cloves garlic, chopped or 3 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 28 ounces Tuscanini Crushed Tomatoes
• 3 tablespoons Tuscanini Tomato Paste
• 1 heaping teaspoon dried thyme
• 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 3 to 4 cups water
• 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
