- 175g soft vegetarian margarine
- 175g caster sugar
- 175g white self-raising flour
- 3 free-range eggs beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tbsp hot water
- 2 x 18cm sandwich tins greased and floured
- 450g fresh strawberries
- 100g flaked almonds toasted
- 600ml whipping cream
- 150ml Kirsch or other liqueur
