Jamaican Beef Patty

- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup room temperature vegetable shortening or suet (beef fat)
- 1/4 cup ice cold water
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup onion, chopped
- 3 scallions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 2 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 scotch bonnet or habanero pepper (hot pepper)
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice powder
- 1 tablespoon oil - optional
