Jamaican beef patties - The Intercultural Kitchen

Ingredients

• 300 g plain flour
• 150 g cold butter
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• salt to taste
• 100 mg water
• 1 medium potato diced small
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1/2 yellow onion diced
• 400 g beef mince
• 3 clove garlic finely chopped
• 1 scotch bonnet, seeds removed and finely chopped
• 5-6 sprigs fresh thyme
• 1 tsp ground allspice
• 1 tbsp Jamaican curry powder
• 1 tbsp tomato paste
• 1 tbsp beef stock concentrate
• salt and pepper to taste
• 1 spring onion finely sliced
• flour for dusting
• 1 egg beaten
