Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 u00be cups all-purpose flour
  • u00bd teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • u00bd teaspoon kosher salt
  • u00bd teaspoon ground ginger
  • u00bd teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • u00bd teaspoon ground allspice (or substitute u00bc teaspoon ground cloves)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • u00bd cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 u00bd cups granulated sugar
  • u00bd cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • u00bd can (15 ounce can) unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup pecans halves, toasted and coarsely chopped by hand (see below)
  • Glaze: 1 cup confectioneru2019s (powdered) sugar, sifted, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons milk
