Hachee

Ingredients
- 500 grams marbled beef (cut up in chunks of about 1")(approx. 1 lb stew beef)
- 750 grams onions (chopped)(1 medium onion)
- 4 cloves of garlic (very finely chopped)
- 60 grams butter (2 tbsps)
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar or Demerara sugar
- 2 slices of brown bread, crust cut off, cut up in pieces of about 1 "
- 1/2 liter dark ale (any kind can be used but I used German Bockbier which is very good)(2 cups)
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 2 laurel leaves
- 2 cloves
- 1 tbsp German mustard
