Fire Cakes - James Martin Chef
This fabulous fire cakes recipe will bring the fun to any Halloween party. Sweet, delicious treats that you'll really enjoy making!
Ingredients
- 397g condensed milk
- 400g butter softened
- 75g icing sugar
- Few drops orange essence
- Few drops orange food colouring
- 250g butter
- 250g caster sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2 oranges zest
- 200g self raising flour
- 50g cocoa powder
- 115g butter, softened
- 140g icing sugar
- 3 egg whites
- 115g plain flour
- Red, yellow and gold spray
- To make the cake beat together the butter and sugar until white add the eggs and zest whisk up then fold in the flour and cocoa, pour into a lined greased tin and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, cool.
- To make the tuiles, beat all the ingredients together, chill for 20 minutes then roll out and cut into fire strands bake on a lined tray at 200c for2 to 3 minutes, curl into flames.
- Break the cake up into pieces and place inside mini cauldrons or bowls.
- Mix the butter, condensed milk, icing sugar, essence and colouring together until smooth and together . Top the cake pieces with the buttercream.
- Stick the flames all around the edges then spray with edible coloured spray.
