Golden Syrup Slice / Cakes – Cooking for Oscar
Preheat oven and line tin or muffin molds. Mix golden syrup, oil, sugar, flour, and bicarb. Bake slice or mini cakes, then ice with citric acid paste. Perfectly sweet and chewy treats!
Ingredients
- Canola oil spray
- 3 cups plain white flour (or rice flour)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 cup golden syrup
- 1/2 cup sunflower oil
- 1 1/2 cup soft brown sugar
- 3/4 cups warm water
- 1 1/2 cup pure icing sugar (sifted)
- 1/2 - 1 teaspoon citric acid (depending on taste)
- Cold water
