• 1 (0.25oz) package (7g) or 2 1/4 teaspoons Red Star Quick Rise Yeast
• 1/4 cup water
• 1/2 cup milk
• 3/4 cup butter
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon table salt
• 4 large eggs
• 1/2 cup currants (or chopped almonds and currants)
• 1/2 tsp almond extract
• 1 cup water
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• Juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
• 4 cups (3 large) Golden Delicious apples ( pared and sliced)
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 cup butter
