Ingredients

• 500 g (1 pound) onion
• 3 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tbsp honey
• 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
• 1 pinch of ground black pepper
• 1 tsp thyme
• 1 tsp mustard
• 500 g (1 pound) sauerkraut
• 1 bay leaf
• 4 frankfurter sausages
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tbsp butter (unsalted)
• 4 hot dog rolls
• 1 tbsp German sweet mustard
