- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg

- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 /2 c. vegetable oil
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 ripe pears, peeled and chopped
- 1 c. walnuts, chopped (optional)
