Ingredients

• 4 ears corn
• 4 slices bacon
• 1 onion coarsely chopped
• 4 cups chicken broth
• 2 boiling potatoes peeled, and cut into 1/2" dice
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 bunch green onions, white parts only thinly sliced
• 1 red bell pepper cut 1/4" dice
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• Salt to taste
• Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
• 1 cup half-and-half
