• 150 gm (2/3 cup) caster sugar
• 1 orange, juice and finely grated rind only
• 2 tbsp Grand Marnier
• For dusting: icing sugar
• To serve: vanilla bean ice-cream or crème fraîche (optional)
• 150 gm (1 cup) self-raising flour
• 50 gm icing sugar
• 1 tbsp finely grated orange rind
• 2 eggs, separated
• 310 ml (1¼ cups) buttermilk
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 20 gm butter
