Pecan Shortbread Squares - The Local Palate

Ingredients

• ¾ cup all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup and leveled off with knife
• ¼ cup corn starch
• ½ cup confectioners' sugar
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1-inch pieces
• 12 tablespoons (1-½ sticks) unsalted butter
• ¾ cup light brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons honey
• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
• Generous pinch salt
• 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
• 3 cups coursely chopped pecans
