• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks), softened
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup nuts chopped (optional)
