This substantial sausage tart has wonderful depth of flavour and is ideal to eat on a lazy weekend or for a Bank holiday picnic.
Ingredients
- 500g shallots, halved
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- Flour, for dusting
- 300g shortcrust pastry
- 200g chestnut mushrooms, sliced
- 100g smoked sausage or chorizo, sliced
- Small bunch of fresh flatleaf parsley, finely chopped
- Small bunch of fresh chives, finely chopped
- 3 large free-range eggs
- 3 tbsp crème fraîche
