Savory Sausage and Cheddar Bread Pudding – Cooking Aboard with Jill

Ingredients

• 2 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
• 1 pound sweet or spicy pork sausage (casings removed) *
• 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
• 1 loaf or 18 slices white sandwich bread (approximately 16 cups and I used sourdough)
• 45 cups of grated sharp cheddar cheese (depending if you want some for a topping)
• ½ cup chopped fresh parsley
• 8 large eggs
• 4 cups whole milk or half and half
• 1 orange, zested and juiced
• 1 red pepper, diced
• Garlic powder to taste
• Salt and pepper to taste
