Ingredients

• 1 quart tomato sauce, tomato soup or home-canned tomatoes
• 4 cans chicken broth
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 2-3 cups finely chopped cooked chicken, turkey or barbecue pork
• 2-3 cups sliced carrots
• 2-3 cups cubed potatoes
• 2-3 cups black-eyed peas
• 2-3 cups whole-kernel corn
• 2-3 cups lima beans
• Hot sauce to taste
• 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 clove garlic, chopped
• 2 cups mashed potatoes
