Ingredients

- ½ cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 ounces cold, unsalted butter, cut in ½” pieces
- 4 ounces cold cream cheese, cut in ½” pieces
- 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
- 3 tablespoons ice water
- ⅔ cup almonds
- ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of kosher salt
- 1½ cups tart cherries, rinsed, stemmed, pitted
- 1½ cups rhubarb, rinsed, leaves removed, cut into ½” pieces (approx. ½ pound)
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon orange zest
- Beat together one egg with one tablespoon of milk in a small bowl.
- If sprinkling with almonds, place ½ cup slivered almonds in a small bowl.
