- 1 large onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, grated to a paste
- olive oil, for cooking
- 1 tbsp of tomato purée
- 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
- 1 tsp cane sugar
- salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, grated to a paste
- 1 tbsp of ground cumin
- 50ml of vinegar
- 50ml of water
- vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 large onion, peeled and cut into rings
- Doves Farm Organic Plain White Flour, for coating the onions
- 350g of basmati rice, or Egyptian rice
- 2 handfuls of fine wheat vermicelli
- olive oil
- 400g of tinned chickpeas
- 400g of tinned lentils
