Classic Cloth-Boiled Christmas Pudding

Ingredients

• 750 g mixed dried fruit
• 100 ml brandy
• 300 g brown sugar
• 280 g coarse breadcrumbs
• 250 g cold butter, grated
• 150 g plain flour
• 60 g ground almonds
• 4 eggs
• 2 Granny Smith apples, coarsely grated
• ½ tsp ground cinnamon
• ½ tsp ground nutmeg
• ½ tsp ground cloves
• ½ tsp salt
• Finely grated rind and juice of 1 orange
• For the pudding cloth – ¼ cup flour
