- 2 whole onions, cut in half and peeled
- 2 carrots, cut into large chunks
- 1 stick celery (with leaves), roughly chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons AP flour
- ½ cup raisins
- ⅓ cup lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- ⅓ cup finely chopped almonds
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt, divided
