Highland Fondue

Ingredients

• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 3 tsp butter
• 8 fluid ounces milk
• 1 pound grated Scottish or mature cheddar cheese
• 3 tsp cornflour
• 4 Tbsp whiskey
• Cubes of rye and onion bread for dippers
