- a little flour, for dusting
- 600g golden syrup, plus a little extra
- 225g fresh white breadcrumbs
- zest and juice 2 lemons
- 3 large eggs, broken up with a fork
- 5 small eating apples – choose your favourites
- custard, vanilla ice cream or clotted cream, to serve
