• 12 fresh or dried lasagna sheets
• 50g (2oz) butter
• 50g (2oz) plain flour
• 600ml (1 pint) milk
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• 100g (4oz) grated cheddar cheese
• 2 tbsp chopped parsley
• 8 sausages, skins removed, and meat crumbled
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, crushed
• 2 tbsp tomato puree
• 400g (14oz) canned chopped tomatoes
• 2 tsp dried oregano
• 1 tsp sugar
• 2 tbsp olive oil
