  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 3–4 whole cloves
  • 1 (2-inch) stick Gefen Cinnamon
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or yogurt, for garnish (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Pereg Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin, such as Pereg, or coriander or 3/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 3/4 teaspoon turmeric
