• 3/4 cup reduced-fat Monterey Jack cheese, shredded, divided
• 1 (4-ounce) can diced green chile peppers
• 12 (6-inch) corn tortillas
• hot pepper sauce, to taste, for topping
• 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
