Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 pounds beef chuck, cut into 2″ cubes
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 small yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 large cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hot Hungarian paprika (or you can substitute a blend of supermarket paprika and cayenne pepper)
  • 2 1/4 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup white wine
  • 1/4 cup tomato purée
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream, plus more for garnish
  • 4 1/2 cups sauerkraut
