Ingredients

  • 3⁄4 lb. flank steak, cut into 2" wide strips, 1/4" thick
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. plus 1 tbsp. Shao Hsing rice wine
  • 1 1⁄2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 1 (1/2") piece ginger, peeled and minced
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp. chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp. dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. peanut oil
  • 12 oz. broccoli florets and stems, cut into 1/4" thick pieces, blanched
  • 1 tbsp. fermented black beans, rinsed and mashed
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
